Guest Speaker Colonel Kobi Marom

Please join us for special guest speaker Colonel (res) Kobi Marom who will speak after kiddush on Saturday, October 28.  Q&A will follow.

More about Colonel Marom:

Col. Marom is an expert on Hamas, Hezbollah and other radical movements operating in the Middle East today.  He is currently a Research Associate at The International Institute for Counter Terrorism of the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel.

During his military service in an elite commando unit of the IDF in 1984, Marom participated and commanded a rescue operation of Ethiopian Jews in the Sudan desert as part of Operation Moses.  He went on to become the IDF Brigade Commander for the Eastern Front in South Lebanon and the Hermon Brigade, where he supervised complex and varied combat units under conditions of stress, uncertainty and constant change.  In 1998, Colonel Marom was sent by the IDF to do his Master degree at the National Defense University in
Washington, D.C., which he completed in 1999. At that time he began an extensive career as a commentator for news media and as a speaker to Jewish communities and other venues on behalf of the Friends of the IDF (FIDF).  He is one of Israel's leading experts on the strategic situation along the northern border and has briefed countless diplomatic, political and philanthropic missions to the area.

In the summer of 2010 Colonel Marom hosted White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emmanuel and his family, throughout their visit along the northern borders.

Kobi Marom lives with his family in a small village named Neve Ativ, only a mile from Syrian border.
